QUESTIONS? (I THOUGHT YOU’D NEVER ASK!)
Q: I TOOK A COLLEGE WRITING COURSE. WILL THIS BE ANY DIFFERENT?
You better believe it. The reality is, the definition of ‘good’ varies depending on the type and purpose of your writing. What files for an essay isn’t necessarily going to cut it on a website, for example. Copy That Connects is designed specifically for small businesses with your goals and challenges in mind. It also includes MUCH more than just the mechanics of how to write.
Yes, you’ll learn a process – and an awesome one at that – but you’ll also work on some foundational stuff that you need in place in order to write authentically, and with your customer in mind. We’ll go through a ton of best practices, tips, and techniques. We’ll also create a messaging framework for your business that will be your new best friend because it’s going to save you TONS of time and wheel-reinventing. In other words, your college course has nothin’ on Copy That Connects 😉
Q: I’M SUCH A TERRIBLE WRITER. IS THERE ANY HOPE FOR ME?
Oh my friend, you are exactly the person I created this course for. PLEASE come in – and sit right by me.
There is a decent – if not fantastic – writer in all of us. It’s just that – up until now – nobody has taught you how to do it. So it’s no wonder you’re struggling! What I know is that, with the right knowledge, tools, and framework, just about anybody can write compelling content all by themselves – quickly and sans angst. Including you. I’ll show you the way.
Q: HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE ME TO GET THROUGH THE COURSE?
It depends on several factors – most importantly, how fast you get through the exercises sprinkled throughout the course. But I can tell you that you can get through the videos (including bonuses) in less than five hours. That’s less than a business day. One hour/week for five weeks. One hour a day for a week. You get the idea.
My goal with this program was to get you to the finish line as efficiently as possible. There isn’t a wasted minute. Most of the videos are under 15 minutes, with the average being around 12 minutes, which makes it easy to pop in-and-out if it works better for you to do it bit-by-bit.
Q: I’M JUST STARTING OUT AND NOT SURE I CAN HANDLE THE INVESTMENT.
Just like there are lots of things competing for your TIME, there are lots of things competing for your MONEY too. I absolutely understand your concern – but answer me this. How many great businesses have crap copy? Not many, right? It MATTERS.
This course is the fastest and most economical way to get your business writing to a point where it’s going to work FOR your business and not AGAINST it. It will cost you a small fraction of what you’d pay a professional to create basic web copy. Or a couple of blog posts. Or a set of key messages. In other words, the investment will pay off in SPADES.
Q: THERE ARE SO MANY COMPETING PRIORITIES. WHY IS THIS THE BEST USE OF MY TIME AND MONEY?
You are SO right. There’s so much to wrap your mind around and get a handle on when you’re an entrepreneur (more than you ever guessed there’d be, right? I hear ya.) The thing is, almost all of them will require you to be able to WRITE. Writing is table stakes – a basic entrepreneurial skill, if you will, that you can’t afford NOT to have. So my suggestion is to start here, and then tackle social media, and newsletters, and SEO, and all that other good stuff. I promise this foundation will serve you well.
Q: SHOULDN’T I BE OUTSOURCING MY WRITING? THAT’S WHAT PEOPLE KEEP TELLING ME.
Here’s the thing. If you decide to outsource your writing (to someone like moi), I want it to be because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to. At the end of this course, you’re going to be able to write QUICKLY. We’re talking faster than you could line up your copywriter, brief them, and provide the information they need.
Also, sometimes – not always, but sometimes – your voice is lost when you hire someone. A good copywriter will spend time getting to know you and understanding your voice – but if they don’t, you’ll miss the boat completely because your copy won’t be authentic, and won’t create that on-so-important feeling of connection with your audience.
