–> Giving a speech from a stage or..
–> Having cozy convo with one person?
No brainer, right? Cozy convo all the way!
Well, the same principle applies when you write for your biz. If you think about it as a ‘speech to the masses’, you’ll likely feel some stage fright – you might clam up, stumble over your words, and feel a ton of pressure. As a result, odds are your writing will end up feeling impersonal, generic, and/or awkward.
Which is NOT what we want!
So the first step towards conversational, authentic writing for your biz is to re-frame the task and think of it as a cozy convo with your dream customer instead of a scary, impersonal speech.
When you write, ask yourself: What would I say if I was talking about this topic, over a coffee with a single, super-dreamy customer? That’s the tone, language, and level of formality you want to capture.
This mental shift is the first step towards conversational, authentic copy. So give it a try – and let me know how you do!
